Medicinske museer – museet som trickster
Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceeding › Book chapter › Research › peer-review
A history of medical museums with focus on the case of Medical Museion in Copenhagen emphasizing the connections between the medical collections of instruments and anatomical specimens and the cultural historical collections for documenting the history of medicine. It argues that medical museums were first instrumental in establishing their discipline and its categories and now they can challenge them. The article uses the mythical character of the trickster who exists between life and death, humans and gods as an image for double function of creating and challenging boundaries.
