Research areas

My work is aimed at mapping the cognitive profile of ADHD in order to improve future diagnostics and treatment. All projects of my PhD are based on the Theory of Visual Attention (TVA) by Prof. Claus Bundesen. TVA is a computational model that provides a methodological framework for disentangling perceptual components of visual attention (such as visual processing speed) from response-related (such as reaction time). TVA has been shown to have a high degree of specificity and sensitivity compared to standard neuropsychological tests, and this makes TVA very useful when determining the functional characteristics of attentional deficits.

The main project of my thesis includes children between the age of 8 and 12 with ADHD as well as clinical controls (children with autism spectrum disorders) and typically developping controls. Side projects involve 1) children with spina bifida myelomeningocele (Danish: rygmarvsbrok, see list of publications) and 2) children with ADHD who are exposed to auditory white noise in order to assess potential positive effects of noise on visual processing and encoding of information.
