Research within forest dynamics, ecology and silviculture since 2018. His natural science research has focused on forest recovery after natural disturbances, including the effects of natural succession and silvilcutural interventions. Additionally, he has worked on climate change adaptation of European forests. His social science research has been focused on the integration of resilience and nature conservation measures in European forest management. Recent research focuses on the long-term dynamics in (near-)natural forest ecosystems, including disturbance impacts, grazing, soil pedology and water availability on forest structure, tree species composition and biodiversity.

Teaching and other tasks The course Ecology and Management of Forests and other semi-natural ecosystems (MSc), and supervision of BSc and MSc theses.
