Nanna Maaløe

Assistant Professor

Nanna Maaløe is a medical doctor (2011) and PhD (2019) from the University of Copenhagen. Since 2009, she has been involved in research within sexual and reproductive health and rights, with particular focus on low- and middle-income countries. She currently holds a part-time position as Assistant Professor at University of Copenhagen, alongside her clinical work at Hvidovre University Hospital.

Nanna Maaløe’s research particularly focuses on pregnancy and childbirth. She seeks to understand how care is provided, including how the broader context influences this, and to co-create related interventions with users and healthcare providers. Thereby, her clinical goal is to assist healthcare professionals in providing best possible care with the often limited resources available.

Methodologically, she particularly focuses on approaches to such co-creation and evaluation of complex interventions - often carried out in high-volume, resource-constrained maternity hospitals.

Moreover, she aims at assisting in disclosing, as well as closing, gaps between realities at clinical frontlines and how related health problems and solutions are framed at the global level.

Nanna Maaløe is founder and co-principal investigator of the PartoMa Project: www.publichealth.ku.dk/PartoMa/
