Section for Health Data Science and AI

The Section develops and advance methods for data science within the health sciences. Health Data Science is an emerging and growing interdisciplinary field that at its core aims to explain trends and patterns in big healthcare data through machine learning, artificial intelligence, statistics, bioinformatics, and computer science.

Following the successes of applying deep learning to a range of fields, it is becoming increasingly clear that novel insights in medicine, medical informatics and health economics will be created in this manner. The Section is also engaged in teaching of relevance for the precision medicine area complementing the earlier big data developments within bioinformatics, genomics, proteomics and other modality domains, such as deep electronic patient record data.
