Carsten Hjorthøj is associate professor at the University of Copenhagen and research leader at Copenhagen Research Center for Mental Health - CORE under Mental Health Center Copenhagen. Carsten's primary research focus is linked to the epidemiological cross-field of severe mental illness and substance use, including whether substande use can cause or deteriorate mental illness. This is often, but not always, within the psychotic disorders such as schizophrenia, and particularly research related to cannabis is an important focal point for the research of Carsten Hjorthøj.
Carsten Hjorthøj is further strongly methodologically skilled within both epidemiology and randomized trials, and he often acts as both an methods-consultant on these types of studies.
