Epidemiological Seminar & Drinks with Professor Matthew Fox

Use of quantitative bias analysis (QBA) to reduce overconfidence in epidemiologic research: Applications to respiratory disease

By Matthew Fox, Professor in the Departments of Epidemiology and Global Health at Boston University

In this talk Dr. Fox will give an introduction to quantitative bias analysis, a set of methods used to estimate the impact of bias on study results in terms of magnitude, direction and uncertainty using an example from a randomized trial of severe pneumonia treatment. This will then be a launching point to talk about how bias analysis could have been used during the COVID pandemic to reduce overconfidence in study findings.

Everyone is invited to join us for a glass of wine and epidemiological networking after the seminar.
Participation is free and open to everyone. The seminar is arranged by the Section of Epidemiology and the Graduate Program in Public Health and Epidemiology.
