Lecture by Professor Emeritus Thorbjörn Tännsjö: Priorities in healthcare
Torbjörn Tännsjö, Professor Emeritus of practical philosophy at Stockholm University, will give a lecture on “Priorities in healthcare”. The lecture is part of the KU course on Clinical decision making, and will be at Uni-parken - Auditorium 4, Building 14.2.240B.
Abstract:
The talk presents the main thrust of the argument of Torbjörn Tännsjö’s book Setting Health-Care Priorities: What Ethical Theories Tell Us. The most plausible theories on distributive ethics converge on the recommendation: invest more in psychiatric illness and less in marginal life extension. Yet, we do not abide by the recommendations from the theories. Our human irrationality stands in the way of our doing so.
