My main research interest lies in the field of health informatics and innovation with a focus on how to develop and maintan hollistic, health-centered health and care services based on a broad experience both in the clinical and educational area as well as implementation of e-learning systems coming from a background as both board certified specialist in Internal Medicine and as leader of two different centres in the area of Educational Development and Web Based Learning in the period 2002-2009 at the University of Copenhagen.

The particular field of interest is Health Literacy and eHealth Literacy, the main objective being the user’s needs and abilities in the context of technology in the health universe, focusing on how we can introduce intelligent systems that can adapt to the individual user and how we can change the thoughts and behavior of users from being recipients and clients to active consumers of healthcare.

Current research focuses on digital health literacy, empowerment and learning.

Is actively involved in projects about how to redesign health services both in a national and international perspective. Has actively taken part in the Epital TEMOKAP-study and contributed to Region Sjælland's Precare Project. Is now engaged in the Candian-European project, SMILE (the SMart Inclusive Living Environments).

Has for more than 10 years worked together with professor Richard H. Osbourne, Swinburne University, Australia, with a development and dissemination of the eHealth literacy questionnaire (eHLQ) which curently exists in more than 18 languages.

Interested in participating in international networks with the same focus as mentioned above and also in partnering in EU and other international programs.
