Third research article published
We published an original research article: "Pre-pregnancy body mass index and gestational weight-gain predict maternal hemoglobin levels and are jointly associated with neonatal outcomes in a Mexican birth cohort".
The article is based on quantitative data from the MAS-Lactancia birth cohort study, which is the frame for the Danida-funded study on coexistence of obesity and anaemia. This article was published in the journal Nutricon Hospitalaria, and we showed that among obese women, excessive gestational weight gain was associated with having lower haemoglobin levels in the third trimester. Newborns had higher scores in growth patterns related to adiposity from birth to 3 months old if mothers had normal haemoglobin levels and obesity.
