CONTINUITY project initiates survey on Hypertension and Diabetes continuity of care in Uganda’s Bidibidi Settlement

The team working in Uganda's Bidibidi refugee settlement has initiated a survey. The survey aims to explore the factors influencing access to and (dis)continuity of care for hypertension (HTN) and type 2 diabetes (T2DM) among forcibly displaced persons (FDPs) in the settlement. The team plans to survey nearly 1,000 forcibly displaced persons across five zones in the settlement. In the first two weeks, an impressive 400 surveys were completed in the first two zones.

The survey examines various factors, including socio-demographic details, mobility, and health system-related challenges affecting (dis)continuity of care. Trained Village Health Teams (VHTs) and peer researchers use mobile devices to gather data and conduct point-of-care testing for fasting blood glucose, as well as digital blood pressure monitoring. The team will continue to distribute the survey over the next couple of months.
