PEP partners explore new teaching approaches at UCPH summer school
The annual Summer School at the Centre for Online and Blended Learning (COBL), University of Copenhagen, brought together teachers to explore new approaches to teaching and learning. This year, 26 PEP partners joined the programme online, while four guests from Christian Medical College (CMC) Vellore participated on site.
Now in its fifth year, the Summer School brings teachers together to exchange experiences and explore new approaches to teaching. This year's programme focused on creating inclusive learning environments, co-creation with students, academic practice in the age of generative AI, and flexible learning design.
The online format provided an easy way for PEP partners to take part and get a glimpse of teaching and educational development at UCPH without having to travel. It offered an opportunity to share experiences and explore how colleagues in different contexts are approaching similar challenges and questions around teaching and learning.
From inspiration to practice
The combination of inspirational talks, reflection and hands-on activities was particularly appreciated by the CMC visitors. Despite differences in teaching conditions and infrastructure, they found that many challenges related to digital teaching and course design were shared across contexts. The practical exercises helped connect new ideas to their own practice, and several participants felt inspired to make changes when returning to Vellore.
Interaction with Danish colleagues
The week also highlighted the value of interaction with Danish colleagues. Alongside the Summer School, the visitors took part in visits and meetings, including a visit to the simulation facilities at University College Copenhagen, lectures at the Global Health Challenges summer school, and social activities with the UCPH-PEP team.
The experience provides useful learning for future visits, where opportunities for professional exchange can be matched even more closely to the visitors' areas of expertise and interests.
