Visit to Delhi: Advancing partnerships within PEP and beyond

Global health partnerships

UCPH's PEP team travelled to Delhi for strategic meetings with Indian partners. New agreements on joint PhDs, fellowships, and research alliances mark a milestone for global health collaboration between Indian and Danish institutions.

In March 2026, three delegates from the University of Copenhagen (UCPH) PEP team visited Delhi, India, for a series of strategic meetings with two of our partners in the PEP programme: Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) and All India Institute for Medical Science (AIIMS). The delegation also represented the wider Department of Public Health at UCPH in several meetings and a Roundtable event.

Discussions at AIIMS centred on PEP activities, with both teams sharing their different approaches to monitoring, evaluation and learning. The meeting concluded with clear agreements to work together on a webinar and a fellowship and certificate course. Dialogues with PHFI were equally productive, resulting in decisions on the process for joint PhDs and Postdoctoral Fellows, as well as deeper exchanges on PEP’s operational process and communities of practice. These engagements were valuable in strengthening relationships with our partners in Northern India and clarifying priority areas for collaboration in the coming year.

Beyond PEP-specific meetings, the delegation participated in meetings and events with colleagues from the Department of Public Health at UCPH. Notably, we engaged in the Research Alliance for Affordable Health (RAAH) two-day Roundtable between PHFI, Deakin University, Australia, and UCPH, exploring avenues for joint research between the three institutions. Additional meetings with PHFI, as well as the Danish Embassy in India and the Novo Nordisk Foundation’s India office helped to establish ties and identify opportunities for future cooperation.

Overall, the visit successfully deepened the collaboration within the PEP partnership and strengthened the potential for the Department of Public Health at UCPH to build further alliances with institutions in India and Australia.
